The C&P's decision to make online viewer ship to subscribers is going to impact our Aces fan support this year. I know many people who over the years have followed the Aces by reading them online. Many of which are not going to pay the subscription fees in order to read about the Aces. This to me is an awful move and will only hurt the Aces and the support we get from the community. I understand doing this for the comment section and I understand that the C&P is a business and they need to make money however this is going to be an issue. Other concerns I have is that many of the followers from TPC have not been to this site. As far as UE doing what they should be I do not see that either, I have not heard any advertisment for the upcoming season on the radio, I have not seen a single billboard this is not going to be a good year as far as attendence if something doesn't change quickly. We need to pack the Ford Center and show this young team a lot of support and right now I am not seeing that is the direction we are headed.

I really don't think the C&P change in policy is going to have any impact on attendance. Litner did a good job covering the team, but most of what he did was on twitter as well, which I am sure will continue. The C&P site had became strictly garbage and I quit going there. I would consider paying if it means keeping the 2 or 3 morons with multiple screen names from trolling it to death.
You are correct that the effort though appears weak. We have discussed this many times in the past, but the exposure in the community is no where what it used to be, and the blame can be shared with the local media, university and citizens alike. You mention you haven't seen any ads..now think how many billboards, ads, etc you have seen for the Icemen? I attend a few Icemen games, and I have been called a few times this fall with ticket package offers, etc. I attend more Aces games and have never heard from anyone. I am not trying to create a competition with the Icemen, but UE needs to realize they are getting outhustled badly to the average Evansville sports fan.
Create a fun environment and people will come...the Icemen are proof of that. I would favor nearly giving away the upper bowl, and creating a free "fanatic" zone in the blue tarp area to re-energize Aces games.

Yes to the diehard fans like we have on this board you are correct the loss of the C&P means nothing to us. The issue with attendance is not with the people that follow on this board it is with the general public in Evansville. If they are unable to read and follow our team how are they going to get that desire to come out and watch them. After a big game in the paper it would always tell you when the next Home game was or why you should attend. If you are unable to see that after reading the article it will not be fresh in your mind and you will not attend the game. I think this is a HUGE issue for us, as I do not know many mid 30 year olds that subscribe to a paper any longer. The C&P I believe does a good job covering the team and helps with our branding but if we take this away we are missing "Free Advertisement" for Aces basketball. Do not get me wrong I do not believe we can do anything to change that on this board but yes it bothers me. I also feel like with this WE have to do more to get people out to the Ford Center.

As much as I'd like to see sellouts at the Ford Center, the Aces and the University need to sell themselves. Once the program gets to the level of competing year in and year out for the top spot of the MVC, the people will come. The basketball program has improved over the last few years. I hope it continues to do so.

I haven't had a problem reading the C&P if you are looking at the stories already printed. The current block is on breaking news, I believe. You have to be register to leave comments but that may cut down the multiple screen names deal. Just my take on it

all we have to do is win, we need to be undefeated going into bloomington. we need to win one or two of the early road games, @iu, @ohio, @murrayst, @xavier. how long have we wanted depth and strength in the middle, we have that this year. i believe our defense will be solid this year. the question comes on the offensive side, but i'm not stressing it at all.

Alright a few more things. One no the C&P will not allow you to view the stories online unless you are a subscriber to the paper now. (Which means I am unable to read today's article, if I am unable to that means several other potential Aces fans are unable to as well) Two I think my post came off a little wrong. The post was NOT just about the C&P. It was also the lack of advertisement that the school is doing. No radio/ TV commercials. No schedules at gas stations or bars. Nothing is being done to get the community to follow this team. Yes We all on this board will be there but my issue is if we do not do more we are going to have attendance issues again this year. Yes of course we go undefeated people will come but I believe we have a good enough product that people should come even if we have a loss or two.
Sorry I am very passionate and would love to have the FC filled at all games. I have asked several buddies of mine if they knew when the Hoopsfest was? When the first Aces game was? Not a single one of them could answer that question and they are big college basketball fans.

Adding to the attendance concerns, I live in St. Louis and several writings on the SLU Bills and coach Crews have been in the paper. The last one was a half page on the players, coaches, schedule, projected finish in the conference, and other information. All very positive. I have received mailings about the schedule, tickets and prices. This is what it takes. I don't know who is in charge of marketing for UE but they need some help. We have dropped in attendance a long way since that magnificent coach with the red socks patrolled the sidelines.
