I like this discussion, we are starting to talk Aces basketball. I haven't seen any of the play and I only see the Aces play when they are on TV here in St. Louis. My starters would be: Sawvell Wing Mockevicius Ballentine Brown I believe the key to this lineup will be the play of Sawvell. I feel he could have a break-out year.

I'll go with: Sawvell Wing Mockevicius Balentine Gibson
Of course Coach Simmons will surprise us and that's fine.
Will he play down to the teams we face with smaller lineups? I wouldn't think he would have to since this could be a quick lineup. I think there will be lots of PT for the bench during non-conference games.

I'll go with: Sawvell Wing Mockevicius Balentine Gibson I like this line-up as well. Mockevicius, Wing, and Balentine got a lot of playing time in the CIT last year. Like bogey, I think Sawvell could have a break out year. Coach will have more options with this team. Just another reason why I'm looking forward to Aces basketball this year.

As I had posted on TPC, a few months back. Don't think that the "starting five", will mean too much in this season's version, of the ACES. Many parts/ positions will be interchangeable. Granted, I don't think EMO, will play point. Or, Boo will post up the opps Center. I think we'll see mass substitutions. 3-4 or even 5 players at a time. Coach Simmons, definitely has the depth, speed, and talent this season, to keep fresh legs on the court forty mins a game. I agree with "bogey", Ryan Sawvell, could have a break out season. Also, The ACES are loaded with exciting up and down type athletes, that will bring ACES fans to their feet all season, high fiving and cheering with amazement with what they had just witnessed. I hope Marty, lets 'em play, even if it becomes a bit ragged at times. This is the first season, in a few, that I'll be able to watch them at The FC. I CAN'T WAIT!!! See ya Thursday.
GO ACES 23-6 Overall 14-4 in The VALLEY undefeated at The FC

I love all the ideas from this basketball interested group. I'm glad I found this forum. I have thought about our guards. You folks may be right about playing a larger guard at the point. I was thinking about what the MVC teams would do against Brown. Post him up etc., but then I thought the real discussion we should be having is; What is Brown going to do to the MVC ? Several national sport organizations state that Brown is the pearl of the recruiting class. This remains to be seen. Tell me, Is anything better than the basketball season and Aces basketball? Thanks everyone for your posts. I look forward to them each day.

wing, sawvell and dj, will all knock down their shots this year, who ever is open.
5. Mockevicius (never thought i would learn to spell this name) 4. Sawvell (sawdaddy went over seas this summer and did very well, watch for that to spill over into his junior season) 3. Wing 2. Ballentine 1. ? (a question mark isn't always a bad thing. we have several options, i don't see how we can go wrong with brown, but i believe gibson could be special too, and yes, benzon has played point too. question marty might be trying to answer is who can defend odum)

I think we will be strong at the 5 position. Mock exceeded our expectations last year so what will we see this year? Plus having Moore and Howard playing behind Mock will give us good depth at the 5 position. I am glad that so many young players got the chance to play last year and contribute, it will make the transition this year so much easier. I also believe this will be a 20+ win season with at least a NIT berth.

According to this morning article, Mockevicius is to be backed up by David Howard at 6'9" . Moore and Sawvell will be at the 4. That leaves Wing, Cesnulevicius and possibly Simmons at the 3. The article main focus was on the Bigs and not the backcourt
Hoopfest is 7 pm Tomorrow
Go Aces

5. EMO 4. Sawvell...my insider info is that the Euro tour helped and he is "ready". 3. Wing 2. DJ 1. Brown will be a player that fans will love to watch. Despite articles predicting Gibson, I will stick with Brown.
--Gibson will get significant minutes. --I foresee Moore to be improved and get minutes both at #4 and #5. --Howard giving EMO a breather here and there. If we need an offensive boost, he and EMO on the floor at the same time would be a good option. --Simmons will get minutes simply because he is familiar with the offense. Could see him on the floor anywhere. --Rokas..how much has he recovered? Probably third in line for time behind Moore and Howard. --Benzon..I have seen him personally and he looks physically ready. He is every bit of 6-4. However, I get the impression that his fundamentals are very raw and needs work. Maybe a red-shirt option. --Ptacek...I have no idea...maybe a red-shirt option as well, since we are overloaded in this class. --And I will add Brzoja, even though he can't play this year. Looks to be every bit of 6-5.
--And finally, a line-up that I would like to see. EMO and Howard, along with Gibson, DJ, and Brown. Physically dominant on the inside, explosive on the outside. If they mature and gel, that would be a difficult match-up for a lot of teams.
Looking forward to watching them tonight.

For those of you who picked Jaylon Brown I now agree with you. I also think Benzon will get a lot of PT.

wish i could have gone last night, would love to hear more feedback. but from what i can tell it went great. so the starters may be... the big E, Sawdaddy, ADAM bomb, DJ smoothie, and the ankle breaking Brown. but just as important, the next 3-5, we have to keep the same level with substitution. Moore, Simmons, Benzon, Gibson and Ptacek all showed signs of being ready to contribute.
